Fun Award Winner

Carrie Jolley // SPARK Academy // Kindergarten Interventionist

In the words of her nominators…

The winner of the 2011 Fun Award is SPARK Academy’s Carrie Jolley. In the words of one of her many nominators, “Carrie Jolley is the krazy glue that keeps SPARK together and whether she’s talking about anything from phonics to the Nasdaq, her scholars hang on her every word.” She is, according to one, “the person with the biggest smile at SPARK and she works hard to regularly make others smile, be it children, families, or staff.” When asked to name a story where Carrie exhibited this value, one nominator simply wrote: “There are too many, but they all have the following elements: 1. Very busy day 2. Million things going on 3. Carrie walks into the room 4. (Pick one): kid with throw up all over their shirt is hugging her / she is carrying a wildly kicking kid / she is holding the hands of a kid who is crying 5. Carrie immediately greets you with a huge smile, cracks a quick joke or gives you a compliment 6. You have a better day because of it.” Simply put, in the words of one colleague, “SPARK would not sparkle without Carrie.”

Fun (fən) [adj.]

At TEAM Schools, we believe that having fun is not a luxury, but a necessity. Our students and staff work so hard that they deserve to have fun while doing so. Though our mission is serious, we do not take ourselves too seriously, and we constantly look for ways to make learning both engaging and as entertaining as we possibly can. The TEAMspy for Fun will go to the Big TEAMster who best brightens the days of other TEAMsters big and small alike.
