Who are We?

TEAM Schools
A growing network of academically rigorous, open-enrollment KIPP public charter schools in Newark, New Jersey, that will serve 630+ students in grades 5-9 across three schools in the 2007-08 school year.

TEAM Academy
The flagship middle school in the TEAM Schools network, currently entering its sixth year of operation, serving 377 students in grades 5-8.

TEAM: Rise Academy
The second middle school in the TEAM Schools network, founded in August 2006. Currently serving more than 180 students in fifth and sixth grades, growing over the next two years to serve over 360 students in grades 5-8.

TEAM: Newark Collegiate Academy
The first high school in the TEAM schools network was founded in August 2007 and is currently serving 74 students. It will grow to serve nearly 600 students, matriculating from TEAM’s middle schools.

KIPP
A network of free, open-enrollment, college preparatory public schools in under-resourced communities throughout the United States. There are currently 57 KIPP schools— including TEAM, Rise, and Newark Collegiate—in 17 states and Washington, D.C., serving more than 14,000 students.

Demographics
TEAM students, like all charter school students in New Jersey, are admitted by lottery. TEAM does not select or deny admissions on the basis of prior academic or behavioral record, or any other factor. As a result, the demographics and academic preparedness of TEAM students when they enter TEAM closely reflect those of neighborhood schools.
