TEAM Charter Schools: A KIPP Region

There are two main entry points into TEAM Charter Schools. These are Kindergarten and grade 5. Each year, we accept about 100 Kindergarten students and 200 5^th grade students. In January we hold a lottery for these 300 seats.

Students are selected through a complete random lottery as required by law. Siblings of current students and Newark residents receive priority. Student entering all other grades will be placed on our waitlist. If seats become available we will select students to fill those seats at random. This usually happens at the end of the school year.

Applicants that are not selected in the lottery will be placed on the waitlist. The applicant will remain on the waitlist until he/she is no longer interested in attending a TEAM Charter School. If a seat becomes available we will contact the family by phone, mail, and/or e-mail.

It is extremely important to keep us updated when you move or change your phone number. If a seat opens up and the student is pulled from the waitlist, we would like to contact you immediately without any trouble. If we cannot reach you, we must take the next student on the waitlist.

You do not have to re-apply but if you move, change your contact information, or want to update other information, please complete a new application. Only one application per student is entered in the lottery, therefore, submitting multiple applications will not increase the applicant’s chances of being selected.
